Welcome, new visitors!

Is this your first visit? Consider subscribing to this site's RSS feed to get updates, or to the newsletter for the occasional mailbox surprise.

(Were you, by chance, searching for "diner games"?)

This site is full of original material for players of table-top role-playing games. Input and collaboration is welcomed! Please read more about the site here. Or just dive in to whatever looks interesting.

A couple of recommendations: GURPS players, check out what's at The GURPS Diner. The house special is GULLIVER, an easy rules expansion for creating and playing odd-sized creatures. To see the lunch, dinner, wine, and kids' menus all at once, peek at the site map. Take your time; the busboy will be along shortly to clear you a place.

Maybe you're just mildly curious about this site. Maybe you're pounding the earth with your fists in the rain, shrieking "Why, dear God, why do You allow this to exist?" Either way, here are some information tidbits and niblets.

The blog (grr, there's no getting around using that word) is the home of notices, musings, and gamey stuff that isn't quite rules or full articles. Click here for a full bloggy list. -end-

Site notes 2008.04.07

Two notes:

1) A recent tech upgrade borked all links to ancient (static HTML) GURPS Diner material. Should be working again now.

2) The site's new graphic theme offers a lot more potential for content placement and other customizations than the previous one. But, yes, it needs some clean-up first. It looks very... busy. Will improve things.

GULLIVER Mini download broken and fixed

A friendly reader from sunny (?) Greece informs me that the GULLIVER Mini download was not working. I don't know how long it's been kaput – as long as a week? – and had thought that, with downloads apparently stopped at 157, the reader base was tapped.

The download should be working again. Let's see whether there are still potential readers out there!

User logins and other site updates

Site news!

1. User logins are available to all! Become authenticated! Until I get a proper big flashing link up, head here: http://www.gamesdiner.com/user . Registration entails the usual email-based confirmation.

Chief benefits will include the ability to edit your own comments and manage subscriptions (newsletter, threads, etc.). Once I know things are working smoothly, I can slather additional benefits upon authenticated userhood.

2. You are of course heartily welcome to contribute bigger content (articles! reviews! essays!) than just comments - though for now, an escalation in user privilege is required. Easy for me to do; just shoot me a message.

Overzealous spam filter: does the job and then some!

I'm reining in the spam filter a bit; it was blocking legitimate forum posts. My apologies while I find the right balance.

If you posted a comment that didn't appear, please check whether it's not showing up as it should. Let me know if a problem remains. Thanks always for the patience –

Try the site map too. It's scrumptious.

If you see those words, you tried to reach a page that is protected, perhaps available only to the administrator or registered users. Feel free to ask for specifics: tbone@gamesdiner.com

If you see those words, and they're flashing in giant red type, and the computer is beeping, then the screen starts dissolving in blanked pixels while the beautiful 20-year-old CIA hacker behind you says "oh my God, they're deleting the Internet", you are in a Hollywood movie. Back away slowly, and don't call the Deputy Director to give him your location, because he's the inside man who had your partner taken out.

The Games Diner RSS widget for OS X!

Yes, a Mac OS X Dashboard widget that shows the latest feed from the Games Diner. Why? Because that's what our forefathers lived, fought, and died for.

Just think – if you install and use this, you'll be one of only two people on Earth to do so. It's your Special Day!
