Registration and login

And while your post text should still be there, waiting for a revised user name, there's a chance it could disappear.)
* If you're a registered user but haven't logged in and want to post a quick comment as Esteemed Visitor, that's fine; see above.
* If you're a registered user but haven't logged in, and enter your user name under "Your name" when posting, you'll get an error saying that's the name of a registered user. That's a good thing; it means strangers can't make posts under your user name! But as above, there's a chance of losing your post text. It's best to log in first here, and then start your posting.

Hi, and thanks for the good idea. It makes sense that a graze might counter special attack effects like expansion of a hollow-point bullet. It's right in line with one of the graze features I suggested: that an impaling or piercing graze becomes merely cutting instead.
Actually, that rule should specify a reduction to the x1.5 cutting multiplier only if the multiplier is greater than x1.5 to begin with, making it mostly applicable to impaling and pi++ attacks only. Perhaps the rule should be "Each level of graze takes damage multiplier one step lower, using the existing progression of x2 -> x1.5 -> x1 -> x1/2"; that's in addition to the halving of basic hits and doubling of DR per level of graze. In addition, any level of graze would negate certain effects that rely upon a "direct hit": Vitals hits become "normal" hits; hollow-points don't expand; and so on.
AP bullets and divisors? I don't know; if the divisor were left in, armor still gets the benefit of doubling. The AP bullet would still perform better vs that poor-angle hit than a regular bullet would. BUT, if there's any reason for saying that an AP bullet would lose that advantage entirely on an angled hit, then sure, toss out the AP effects on a graze. (You're much more the firearms expert than I am!)
Whatever the details, when all's said and done, we agree: When big bullets fly in GURPS, anything that helps reduce instant PC death can be a good thing!
